“Happiness Advantage Winner”

Submitted by david.thacker on

For the Happiness Advantage Challenge, Molly Peterson has been attempting art classes with her siblings and mom.  One class she has really enjoyed was faux calligraphy.  She has found that it calms her mind when she is frustrated, or needs a break from school.  Molly has loved the sense of accomplishment when she finishes a project and looks forward to making more time to enjoy this new talent/hobby. Congratulations to Molly and thank you to all those who entered the challenge. Happiness takes work, but it’s worth every minute you dedicate to it.

To Eat (the pizza) or to Not Eat (the pizza) Problem

A man is eating pizza. During the first day he eats a half of the pizza. On the second day he eats a third of the remaining part of the pizza. The third day he eats a fourth of what is left, and on the fourth day he eats a fifth of what still remains.

He then stops because the last piece was not fresh. What fraction of the original pizza is left after he eats the portion on the 4th day?

Please email your answer, work and name to your math teacher.
