Are You Aware Of How Dirty You Cell Phone Is?

Have you ever sat down and thought about all the places you take your phone? Such as the bathroom, the mall, the fair? All these places have tons of germs, and when you take your phone with you to these places, you get them dirty.

For example, let's say you take your phone with you to the bathroom. You might not mean to, but chances are you're getting E. coli on your phone. This is a germ that comes most commonly from poop.

Studies show that 82% of American cell phone users carry bacteria and 16% containing E. coli. That data shows that only two percent of Americans clean their phone daily. So basically, if you don’t clean your phone, you’re going to get sick.

Perhaps the most unsettling fact of all is the fact that so few people clean their phones. Even people without cell phones are exposed to this problem. If you’ve ever let someone borrow your phone or had to use someone else’s phone then your part of the problem.

The germs that the user has infected his or her phone with are being spread to you and giving a higher chance of getting sick. Another study showed that out of 200 cell phone users, only 16 of them admitted to cleaning their phone weekly. That’s less than 10% of that survey and is disgusting how little the amount is.

So, what are some things you can do to solve this disgusting problem? Well here are some very simple thing you can do:

  • Leave your phone at home
  • Wash your hands more
  • Disinfect your phone with alcohol and water
  • Don’t take your phone with you to the bathroom
  • Wear a phone case
  • Quit using your phone all together

These simple yet effective ways to clean your phone have worked well for me and should for you too.

Just the fact that a public toilet seat is cleaner than your phone should at least make you feel somewhat motivated to begin or continue cleaning your cell phone.

But if you haven’t been cleaning your phone lately or the thought to clean your phone has never even crossed your mind, don’t feel bad.

Even I, the guy writing this essay on how important it is to clean your phone, didn’t even consider cleaning his phone until he began to research and realize how important it is for you to do it. So, if you want to be a cleaner, healthy person, start cleaning your phone!
