Did you know that bullying can consist of more than just physical violence?  How often have you heard someone get called a name, or insult?  Did you ever consider it as a type of bullying?

About 70% of all students are being, or have been, bullied in their lives, and roughly half of these cases have been verbal.

Verbal bullying is hard to become aware of, since it can include gossiping, teasing or laughing, but it can be just as serious as physical bullying.

Rumors are without a doubt a type of bullying. In fact, it’s probably one of the worst types there is.  There is nothing worse than a teen being excluded from teams, games, clubs, or activities, because of a lie spread by a verbal bully.

A wise man once asked, “If someone were to pay you 10 cents for every kind word you ever spoke and collect 5 cents for every unkind word, would you be rich or poor?”

Today, I challenge you to stick to the rule our parents have taught us all our lives:  “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all!”
