Twelve students competed in this year's English Quest Competition up at Weber State University this year: Danny Badger, Kelsie Christensen, Jessica Corey, Zach Craner, John Horton, Brendon McConnell, Maya McKinney, Lauren Parker, Kyla Rogers, Kaitlyn Thacker, Victoria Thomas, and Marianna Tonga. These students spent months preparing. English Quest has four categories: Tests, which includes editing, literature, spelling, and vocabulary; Writing, which includes character sketch, personal narrative, persuasive, and poetry; Art, which includes book cover, poster, photo essay, and movie trailer; and Performance, which includes informative speaking, poetry recitation, poetry slam, readers theater, storytelling, Shakespeare monologue and Shakespeare scene.
This was our first year attending and we had a great time. Teams came from schools all over the state of Utah to compete. We had students representing all four categories of competition. All team members did a great job, but special congratulations goes to Maya McKinney for winning FIRST PLACE in the Literature Test category, Kyla Rogers received THIRD PLACE for her Movie Trailer, and Marianna Tonga placed as a semi-finalist in the Informative Speaking category. Congratulations and thank you for representing our school so well. We can't wait for next year!
