Spanish Fork FFA was represented well at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN last week.  9th grade students Rylei Voorhees and Ashley Olsen competed in the science fair with their projects.  Rylei was 6th place in the food products and processing category.  Her project was about bacteria growth in meat at room temperature. She was able to use her results to help inform customers at her family's meat packing plant of safe storage for meat products. Ashley ended up 7th place in the Animal Systems Category.  She was able to use her data collected to know which type of turkey feed was most efficient when raising them. Ashley will show her turkeys and sell them on November 13th at the Utah Turkey Show.

Our Meat Evaluation team ended up a silver rank. Students on the team were: Brayden Banks, Katelyn Beckstead and Kalley Stubbs.  Tell Orton was a national proficiency finalist and won $500. We toured a dairy, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Cincinnati Zoo, Louisville Slugger Museum, Churchill Downs (Home of the Kentucky Derby), listened to President Donald Trump and attended a Garth Brooks concert. Congratulations to all our students!
