Several of our students here at Spanish Fork Jr. High including Sam Jex, Michael Wyss, Mick Barber, Boston Bradford, and Dexter Bradford all had the opportunity to participate on the high school golf team this year.

The season began about a month before school even started and finished in early October. The team practiced every day. There were 12 kids on the team.  Every week the qualifiers determined who would play varsity and who would play JV in the upcoming match or tournament.

About his experience playing on the high school team Sam Jex said, “The high school team this year was AWESOME!  We had an awesome team full of awesome kids.  We all knew that in order to be a good team, we had to work hard.  We also have the best golf coach in the state.  Coach Rogers is one of a kind.  I don't think any of us could imagine how our team would be without him.  And he's got good taste in music.”

Sam has been playing for about 2 ½ years now. He also plays in the off-season, practicing as much as possible, including using a golf simulator in his friend’s garage during the winter. His goal next year is to shoot in the 70s all year. By his senior year, he hopes to win a state championship, get a scholarship, and be the best player in the state.

Congratulations to all these young men for this fantastic accomplishment.
