DETENTION HAS BEGUN

We will start detention after school on Tuesday, September 24th. We will have it in room 4 (Mrs. Thompson’s room) from 2:45pm - 3:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If a student has excessive tardies, they will receive detention slips during their 2nd period class. These notices indicate how much detention the student needs to serve.  Please encourage your students to serve their detention when they receive a slip. They need to continue to serve until all of their tardies/sluffs/unexcused absences are cleared. They don't need to have their slip to get into detention. They won't get a new slip each day. Students will receive the following instructions on their detention notice.

30 minutes of detention served clears one tardy, 45 minutes clears two tardies or one unexcused absence/sluff

Detention begins to accumulate after the third tardy in one class period

No electronics allowed in detention - leave it in your locker during detention (or in a backpack kept with the teacher)

No headphones

No talking or studying together

Bring homework or something to read

If students are unprepared, late, or disruptive, they will be asked to leave and receive no detention credit regardless of time already served

COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS PLANS

September 24th and September 30th our 9th grade students will be participating in their College and Career Readiness Plans during Geography and World History classes. Students will review high school graduation requirements, ways to get college credit in high school, ways to pay for college and different routes to various careers. If you would like any additional information, please talk to your student’s counselor! Resources are also available on the counseling website: http://sfjhscounseling.weebly.com/

ADULTS IN THE BUILDING

Parents, if you plan to enter the building during the school day, you must check in at the office first. We have had parents putting things into or decorating lockers for students. We allow this, but due to security and safety concerns, a check in is necessary.

VISION SCREENING

7th Graders will participate in a vision screening at the school on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 8:45 AM - 9:35 AM (2nd period).

TRANSPORTATION DRILL

On Wednesday, September 25th our bus drivers will conduct a school bus evacuation drill with their students in the loading zone of the school. This will happen upon arrival at school in the morning.
