All students and teachers are invited to dust off their post-mortem poetry skills and enter our contest regarding corpses. There will be prizes for each grade level. NOVEL WRITING MONTH

Want to do something that most people on the planet only dream of? Want to participate in the challenge of a lifetime? Mr. Anson's honors English classes are going to undertake writing an entire novel during the month of November. Crazy, huh? Absolutely. Any other students, regardless of grade, English teacher, genre preference, or shoe size, who also thinks she is up to the life-changing experience of writing a novel in 30 days, is welcome to join. Please see Mr. Anson for details about the NaNoWriMo young writers program. You'll need to sign up before the end of the month, so hurry. And remember that the most rewarding things in life are usually the more difficult things, the things that initially scare us to death.

INTRAMURAL WIFFLEBALL

Wiffleball starts next week after school! See any of the coaches for information on how to get signed up!

TENNIS

Last week we thanked the golf and cross-country coaches and this week we want to give a big shout out to Coaches Trevor Johnson and Amanda Rogers for all of the time spent helping our girls’ tennis team be their very best! We appreciate all the work put in by our coaches, participants, and volunteers!

NEW PACK TIME CAREER PRESENTATION

There will be a special guest speaker, Mr. Adam Hall, talking about real estate investing. This will be on Tuesday, October 17th.  Listen to announcements to find out where the presentation will be held.

PACK TIME SPORTS

Attention all students, starting on Tuesday, October 17th, you will need to bring your own basketballs, volleyballs, etc. to the gym areas for pack time. The PE department will no longer provide them for use during this time. Students are responsible to keep track of their own sports equipment, so make sure your name is on anything you bring for pack time sports. Thanks!

VETERANS’ DAY WRITING CONTEST

Attention Students! Do you like money? Do you like attention? Do you love this country? Well this is your chance to get involved. We will be having a writing contest called the “Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen.” Winners of the essay contest will receive $50 for first place, $25 for second place, and $10 for 3rd place. And to top it all off, the top three winners will get a chance to read their essays in the Veteran’s Day assembly in November. If you’re interested, pick up an application in the counselor’s office. Applications and Essays are due by October 31st, Halloween. It’s open to all grades so feel free to participate.

TERM 1 ENDING SOON!

We only have 7 more school days left before term one is officially over. Parents, please communicate with, and have helpful discussions with your child. Remind them to talk with their teachers when they have questions or need extra help. Our teachers are working with every student to give them support and the opportunity to pass their classes. As Nebo Heroes, we will do our best to help students do their best when it matters most!
