Individual CCR conferences have begun for all 8th grade students.

Last week we started our individual College and Career Readiness conferences with 8th grade students and their parents. These meetings will continue to be scheduled throughout November and December. A direct email was sent out to parents with instructions on how to sign up for an appointment last week, and another will be sent today to parents who have not been able to sign up yet. If you are unavailable to attend we will still meet with your student and send the information home with them. Please contact the counseling office at 801-798-4081 if you need any assistance with this. We value parent participation in these meetings and hope you'll be able to come!

Computer Science/Coding Field Trip Opportunity - All SFJHS Girls Invited

Attention all junior high aged girls and their parents - we have an awesome opportunity coming up on Thursday, Dec 8th.  Nebo's Advanced Learning Center (ALC) in Springville is inviting 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls to their site to view the documentary, CodeGirl.  It is about a group of junior and senior high aged girls who make a difference in their community by writing apps and computer programs.  The field trip is December 8th, and will last all morning - buses will pick up girls here at SFJHS at 9:00am and return them back to school in time for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  This is a FREE field trip targeting girls who are either really interested in or just curious about computer science and coding.  Girls will view the film and have some popcorn, participate in a few activities, and have a chance to tour the ALC to see what programs and opportunities they can participate in during high school years.  Interested girls can pick up a flyer and parent permission slip from their math teacher, and then return it to the Counseling Office by December 1st.

 National Education Support Professionals Day

Last Wednesday, November 16th was National Education Support Professionals Day, and with that we want to let our amazing custodial staff, school secretaries, classroom technicians, school lunch workers, bus drivers and school nurse know how much we appreciate and value what they do for our school. Business runs so smoothly because of all of your work and efforts. Thanks again educational support staff; it is when all of us work together, students, parents, faculty and staff that we may truly attain our school vision of high levels of student learning!
