Parents, Students and Friends –

 Thank You Veterans

This Friday is Veterans Day and SFJHS wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who have contributed so much to the freedom of this nation and our community by serving in our armed forces. We sincerely honor and appreciate your service!  As a show of appreciation to all our veterans, students and staff are invited to come in best dress on Friday.

Follow-up from Red Ribbon Week Assembly

Thanks to our wonderful PTA for bringing Hank Smith here to SFJHS last Friday morning for a superb assembly. This assembly was the culmination of our Red Ribbon Week and encouraged students to make wise choices about online content and electronic device usage as well as covering the dangers of tobacco use and driving under the influence. His message really resonated with students through his humorous approach to making good choices online and in life. He especially encouraged students to visit with their parents or a trusted adult when confronted with these issues that are so common place today. By way of follow-up, we encourage parents to visit with their students about what was discussed in the assembly and cultivate ongoing conversations about these important issues. Here are some suggested talking points: 1 - What potential negative results may come from tobacco use or drinking and driving?  2 - Technology may be used for both good and bad; what is the difference?  3 - What steps do you take to always remind yourself to access only appropriate content online and in your communication with others?  4 - What trusted adult will you go to if you find yourself having a problem with what you are accessing online?
