Parents, Students and Friends –

New Math Teachers and Student Schedule Changes

SFJHS is very fortunate to announce that we were able to hire two new math teachers that will begin teaching 2nd Semester. This move allows us to lower class sizes in math and science generally as well as some targeted classes like honors and remediation. These changes will necessitate moving some students to a new math or science teacher as we try to balance class sizes. Because of the domino effect as schedules are altered, other classes may also be involved in these changes. We understand that this may cause anxiety to some and ask for your help and cooperation to allow these changes to occur. Due to the complexities of these schedule changes we advise students and parents that no student requested class schedule changes will be allowed until after the first week of the new term and at that point changes will be accommodated to solve individual scheduling problems on a case by case basis.

 Nebo Coding Class

Reminder - End of Second Term

Did you realize there are only nine school days left after Christmas Break this term?  Please check with teachers to get any missing work gathered, completed and turned in. The holiday break provides extra time if needed, to make up school work that could help raise a grade.  Take advantage of the opportunity!

 Penny Wars

Way to go SFJHS - Penny Wars has now concluded and we can declare victory! As a school, we donated over $2,500 which will be officially presented to the Nebo Credit Union - Warm the Souls campaign during an assembly Thursday morning. Our top five classes were as follows: Mr. Ferrin’s class took 1st place by donating over $400 while Mr. Water’s class took second place, Mrs. Parker’s class finished third, Mrs. Nielson’s class came in fourth and Mr. Moss’s class rounded out the top five. Again, way to go Lobos!

 Thanks PTA

SFJHS has some amazing volunteers!  We want to thank the PTA and the wonderful parents that helped to feed our teachers and staff last week on a long day of Parent/Teacher conferences Wednesday, December 9th.  The teachers and staff enjoyed a warm and filling hot meal and we want to thank all of those involved in making that happen.

Lobos in Action

Way to go Geography Bee participants! In order to participate in the 28th annual National Geographic Bee, eighth graders had to pass a written test with a high qualifying score.  There were a very limited number of seats available for the entire eighth grade so being able to participate was a great accomplishment.  The following students qualified and participated in the school competition: Peyton Payne, Amanda Lewis, Camden McDonald, Kanon Ramirez, Elizabeth Ash, Tommy Hundley, Luke Eliason, Garrett Dedrickson, Ashley Fry, Mckenna Rigtrup, Greg Olson, Tru Solomon, Valeria Pelayo, Cydney Nielsen, Max Colton, Luke McCune, Nicole Stubbs, Jamison Massey, Clayton Hall, Logan Smith, Natalie Khuni, Treven Marler, Kacie Rosales, Caleb Hayward, Ryan Whitaker, London Gorrell, Alyssa Wright and Nathaniel Alton. Finishing in first place was Camden McDonald with Clayton Hall finishing in Second Place and Amanda Lewis finishing in Third Place.  Congratulations to all the contestants and our school finalists!
