 Parents, Students and Friends –

 Penny Wars

Beginning this Monday Dec 7th and continuing for the full week all students are invited to participate in Penny Wars sponsored by NJHS! Contribute silver change or cash bills to your second period class and it counts for your class - any pennies contributed by others to your class will count against you.  So… feel free to bring your pennies to slow other classes down. All funds raised through this event will be donated to the Nebo Credit Union - Warm the Souls campaign. The winning class will receive a fun prize so let’s get excited and have a great Penny War competition!

 Parent Teacher Conferences,

P/T Conferences are coming up one week from today on Wednesday, December, 9th from 2:00-7:00pm. This is a great chance to talk with teachers about how your student is doing and make plans to get back on track if needed. Remember, Christmas Break is fast approaching and after Christmas there are only a few days until the end of the term. Because of this, 2nd term has traditionally been when students get their lowest grades - we want to change that!  As all of us - students, teachers and parents - work together we will change 2nd term into one of our best terms.

Computer Science Field Trip Opportunity - All SFJHS Girls Invited (permission slips due by tomorrow, December 3rd)

Attention all junior high aged girls and their parents - we have an awesome opportunity coming up on Tues, Dec 8th.  Nebo's Advanced Learning Center (ALC) in Springville is inviting 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls to their site in Springville to view a recently released documentary, CodeGirl.  It is about a group of junior and senior high aged girls who make a difference in their community by writing apps and computer programs.  The field trip is Tues, Dec 8th, and will last all morning - buses will pick up girls here at SFJHS shortly after school begins and return them back to school in time for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  This is a FREE field trip targeting girls who are either really interested in or just curious about computer science.  Girls will view the film and have some popcorn, participate in a few activities, and have a chance to tour the ALC to see what programs and opportunities they can participate in during high school years.  Interested girls can sign up for the field trip in the office (they will need a signed permission form available in the office).  We need to know if you or your student is interested by TOMORROW Thurs, December 3rd.

 4-H Afterschool Clubs

Attention students - It’s time to sign up for December 4-H Afterschool Clubs.  This month we are offering two clubs: Dr. Who Fan Club and Incredible Edibles Club. (Club 1) Whovians unite!  Come and enjoy the fandom of Dr. Who with the Dr. Who Fan Club!  We look forward to making sonic screwdrivers... learning about time travel... and writing our own names in Galifreyan and much, much more! Come and enjoy and bring a friend! (Club 2) Incredible Edible is all about eating, creativity, and fun. Join the club to learn how to make some delicious holiday treats! We'll be making gingerbread houses, reindeer cookies, and so much more.  If you love tasty food that looks great, come and join us for some fun after school in the Incredible Edibles Club.
