Parents, Students, and Friends -

SERVING DETENTIONS

Parents, if your child has been tardy more that three times in any one class period this school year, he/she will be receiving a Detention Notice. This practice goes on throughout the school year as a consequence for tardiness, sluffing, and unexcused absences. It is important that students are on time for classes so they do not miss instruction and so classmates’ learning is not disrupted upon a late entry. The guidelines for detention are as follows:

  • Report to room 6 (Ms. Egbert’s room) immediately after school. Report before 2:45 p.m. on  Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. Detention ends at 3:30 p.m. (30 minutes = 1 T; 45 minutes = 2 T or 1 sluff/unexcused absence)

  • Report with school work, which may include a book you are reading for a class.

  • No electronic devices are allowed.  Leave them in your locker or in a backpack left with the teacher.

  • Remain completely quiet and follow all directions of the adult supervisor. If you are disruptive, you will be asked to leave and receive no detention credit regardless of time already served.

  • Be on time!  If you arrive late, you will not be allowed to serve your time.

  • CONTINUE TO SERVE DETENTION UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED ALL TARDIES AND/OR SLUFFS/UNEXCUSED ABSENCES.  YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE ANOTHER NOTICE.

  • Failure to follow these conditions will result in activity ineligibility (ie. assemblies, and/or after school sports.)

  • You will not be eligible to go to Lagoon at the end of the school year unless all detentions have been cleared.

  • If you fail to serve all detentions, you will not receive your yearbook until the last day of school, at the end of the day.

CHRISTMAS GRAMS

This week, December 3-7, the SFJH Student Council will be selling Candy Christmas Grams during first and second lunch. Fun size candy bars will be 25 cents and a full size candy bar will be $1. Deliveries will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Start the holiday season off right by sending your friends a sweet treat!

PENNY WARS

Start gathering your loose change! December 10-14 will be our annual Penny Wars fundraiser. Bring your silver coins to boost your 2nd period class's score and bring pennies to "penny-bomb" other classes! There will be daily challenges and prizes for the winning class. The donated money will go to help students right here at SFJHS buy a new pair of shoes. 'Tis the season for giving and nothing is better than helping those right here in our own community!

DRAMA CLASS PLAYS

It's that time of year again. The drama 1, drama 2, and drama tech classes are getting ready for their class play performances. The students have spent the last 5 weeks working on rehearsing, and getting their class plays ready for production. The short plays are a combination of fractured fairy tales and stories based on classic novels. These will be fun shows and we welcome everyone to come and see them. They'll be performed on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in the little theatre and will run about an hour. It's free to one and all. Come enjoy the evening with us and support the students' hard work.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent teacher conferences will be on Thursday, December 6 from 3:30pm - 8:00pm. So, mark the date on your calendar to visit with teachers.
