Parents, Students and Friends

Registration for Next Year

Parents, please be aware that students will begin the registration process this coming week. Information for registration of 7th grade students going into 8th grade will be given on Monday, March 23rd in your student’s CTE class.  Similar registration information for 8th grade students going into 9th grade will be presented on Tuesday, March 24th in U.S. History classes. During these classes students will be given all needed registration materials to complete the registration process for next year.  Students will be required to take the registration form home so parents can approve their course selections.  The registration form must be signed by each student’s parent/guardian before it can be turned in.  For further information contact the counseling center at (801) 798-4075 ext. 2

English Honors Information for Next Year

Any 7th or 8th grader interested in taking Honors English next year must fill out an application and must take the Honors English test either Tuesday, March 24th or Thursday, March 26th. You WILL NOT be allowed to take Honors English if you do not take the test!  No exceptions.  The test for future 8th graders will be in Mrs. Betts’s room, and the test for future 9th graders will be given in Mr. Anson’s room starting at 2:45.  It will last approximately one hour.  You must have your application turned in to your English teacher before you take the test. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Anson or Mrs. Betts.  Ask your English teacher for applications, or you can pick one up in the counseling office.

The PTA March Madness Fundraiser has begun!

It's time for the annual SFJHS March Madness Family Fund Drive sponsored by the PTA. It will run this week, March 17-20.  This is the only fundraiser held by the PTA, and we won't ask you to buy anything!  To show your support for our wonderful school, look for the envelope your student brought home (you might have to ask them for it!).  Simply return the signed envelope to your student's English teacher with a donation of $5 (or more if you can do so) by this Friday, March 20.  All of the money raised stays with the school for the benefit of the students.  Any money we can donate is matched by the Nebo Foundation, doubling the power of your donation.  In the past these donations have provided calculators for the math department, sets of books for the English classrooms, and wireless microphones for the Little Theater.  Any student that returns the signed envelope will get a treat, even if you are unable to donate anything at this time.  The grades will be competing against each other--the grade that returns the most envelopes with get an early-out!  Please look for the envelope and join us in supporting Spanish Fork Junior High!

 PTA Volunteers needed!

We are looking for great people who want to be involved in PTA at our school!  PTA has several positions and opportunities open for next year. The PTA General Membership Meeting will be held on April 13 at 10:00am to vote in the new board members.  Any member of the PTA is invited and encouraged to attend! Please contact Gaye Christiansen for more information at gayechristiansen [at] gmail.com (gayechristiansen[at]gmail[dot]com).

School Musical - Robin Hood: The Courtship of Allan A'Dale

SFJHS Theater Arts is proud to present this year’s annual spring production, Robin Hood: The Courtship of Allan A'Dale.  All the joy, love, adventure and danger associated with the outlaw Robin Hood are found in this romantic coming-of-age adventure comedy story. This musical is filled with humor, swordfights, hidden identities, and even a group of singing nuns! The performance dates are: March 25th, 26th, 27th and 30th; cost is $5.00 per person or $25 for a family - show time is 7:00pm each evening. Come enjoy a terrific production!

 Lobos in Action

An extravaganza of music occurred last Friday when renowned bassist, Ranaan Meyer took 3 hours to work with SFJHS orchestra students as part of a project called "The World We All Deserve through Music".  SFJHS won the opportunity to do this through an audition process.   The piece contains 15 different parts of varying ability so that all of our 155 SFJHS orchestra students were able to participate.  It's actually a very challenging piece with some fun non-traditional techniques, like stomping, knocking on instruments, and scratching the strings. Ranaan performed for students, taught modern techniques, and helped students “jam” on the piece he composed just for us:  Spanish Fork Jam.  As part of this event, a videographer created a documentary and interviewed students and audience members.
