Parents, Students and Friends - We have had a great start to the school year. We are looking forward to keeping the positive momentum we have experienced thus far going throughout first term and throughout the entire year. Like you, your student’s safety and success is our number one goal. Working together we can help our SFJHS students achieve success this year. Picture Day Picture day will be THIS Friday, August 22nd. Packets were sent home with students on the first day of school. If you choose to purchase a picture package your student should return the packet and money on Aug 22nd and give it directly to the photographers. All students will have their picture taken whether or not they purchase a picture package, so that it can be used for their student ID card and for the year book. Fall Sports There are three fall sports that will be starting very soon; girls tennis, cross country and golf. We hope that students will want to be involved with some of the many different extracurricular activities that will be available this year. If you are interested in participating in one of these fall sports, be sure and listen to announcements this week, check the website or you can contact the coach - Golf: Shane Hansen - Girls Tennis: Travis Moss - Cross Country: Nate Bartholomew or visit with Mr. Beardall. Dance Auditions for the Shakespeare Competition Team Try out for the Shakespeare team! There will be a dance workshop on August 26th and then the actual auditions will be on August 28th after school in the little theater. School Community Council We need you! SFJHS is looking for parents/guardians who are willing to serve as a member of our School Community Council. The council meets one time per month (during the school year) to discuss school needs, create school improvement goals, and to plan how LAND Trust funding will be allocated. Parents or Guardians of students attending SFJHS are eligible to be elected. Please speak with Mr. Paul Barber at 801-798-4075 or e-mail paul.barber [at] nebo.edu if you are interested in becoming a candidate for one of the three open seats on the council to serve a two year term. The deadline to declare your intent to run is Friday, August 29th 2014. If needed, there will be an election held September 15th through 17th, 2014 with voting in the main office. For more information about School Community Council and its role within SFJHS visit http://www.schoollandtrust.org PTA Parents, if you would like to help out with any PTA activities and/or projects, your involvement would be welcomed and appreciated.
