Parents, Students, and Friends -

THE LOBO WAY

One day at a time is how we can PURSUE CHALLENGES FOR SELF-IMPROVEMENT. This is part of LEARNING TO LEARN WITH PASSION, our school’s second part of the vision we have. Students, what do you do to improve yourself one day at a time? What interests do you have that you want to learn more about? Come to the office and share your experience with Mr. Christensen, Mrs. LeMmon, or Mr. Mortensen for a small treat!

7TH GRADE SCIENCE ROCK CANYON FIELD TRIP

If any 7th grade student would like to go on a fieldtrip up Rock Canyon on October 3rd, the cost will be $2.00 and you will want to bring a sack lunch and water. Pay Mrs. Hall in the front office and you will be put on the list. Space is limited so FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. We will be gone most of the day to look at rock formations and the ways rocks are made.

CROSS COUNTRY MEETS

The Cross Country meets that were postponed due to the air quality have been scheduled.

Tuesday, Sept. 25th @ Salem Jr. High start time 3:30

Tuesday, Oct. 2nd @ Diamond Fork Jr. High start time 3:30

SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION

Under the direction of Kristina Holley, drama teacher and coach, the Spanish Fork Junior High Shakespeare Competition team will be travelling to Cedar City to compete this weekend. Over 2,000 students from over 90 schools throughout Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and California gather in Cedar City for the event. Our students are excited to participate in such a wonderful event.

The team will present a showcase performance of all their competition pieces for family, friends and the public this coming Monday, October 1st, at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater of Spanish Fork Junior High School.  There is no charge to attend, so we welcome everyone to come see it.

COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS PLANS

Monday and Tuesday our 9th grade students will be participating in their College and Career Readiness Plans during Geography and World History classes. Students will review high school graduation requirements, ways to get college credit in high school, ways to pay for college and different routes to various careers. If you would like any additional information, please talk to your student’s counselor! Resources are also available on the counseling website: http://sfjhscounseling.weebly.com/

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH

Our first parent teacher conference of the year will be held from 3:30pm to 8:00pm. You will receive your child’s grades upon arrival and teachers will be available in the cafeteria and Little Theater.

PTA SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

Principal Christensen invites you to visit the Scholastic Book Fair, sponsored by the PTA, from September 25th-27th. Days and hours are Tuesday 7:15am-3pm, Wednesday 7:15am-3pm, and Thursday 7:15am-8pm - stop by during parent teacher conferences!

We have a classroom wish board where you can see what English teachers’ "wishes" are. You can purchase a book for teachers to add to their classroom libraries!

We even have a contest going highlighting the English teachers’ favorite picks! It’s always fun to see what the teachers choose for good reads! Mr. Christensen likes Live In Infamy by Caroline Tung Richmond and Assistant Principal LeMmon’s favorite book is The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas.

Finally, because of great student and parent support our PTA is able to give the teachers at our school gift certificates to use to build their classroom libraries. Scholastic is donating to each classroom during this book fair!
