Parents, Students and Friends –

Teacher Development Day - Early Out

We want to remind all parents that next Wednesday, September 16th will be a district wide minimum day for staff development (SDD).  No lunch will be served and school will be released at 11:15a.m. with buses running accordingly.  Please be aware of this early out so that you can make any necessary arrangements.

 ACT Explore Test

Be aware that the ACT Explore Test will be given to all 8th grade students on September 16, 2015 (This is the minimal day).  All 8th grade students will take the test and remain with an assigned teacher for the day. More than ever before, it is important that all students have the skills needed to be successful in college and the workplace. Becoming college-ready does not happen overnight; students develop these skills by taking rigorous courses in high school. ACT Explore helps 8th graders build high school course plans that will prepare them for college and work and introduces them to career options that are relevant to them. It shows your student: Areas needing extra help or additional courses, suggestions for improving academic skills along with, careers that match your student’s interests. ACT Explore scores provide early indicators of whether students are on track for college. With plenty of time before students graduate, teachers can use this information to focus on areas of need. Students who take ACT Explore are more likely to be college and career ready. For more information on the Explore ACT please visit: http://www.act.org/explore/pdf/WhyTakeExplore.pdf
