Math Students Dance Their Way to Proficiency

If you’d been walking through the halls of SFJH today, you would have heard a grooving beat coming from math teacher Brooke Cline’s room.  And when you stepped inside the door—30 totally engaged students showing off their fancy footwork as well as their comprehension of angles.  Here’s what Ms. Cline told us:

“We did some dancing today in class to memorize the angle postulates we are testing on next week. It's been shown that doing movement helps us memorize things. We did a pop quiz on them yesterday and many students didn't know them yet. At the end of each class today, I asked the students if they knew the postulates better and they all said yes.”

When teachers take the time to involve the whole student in the learning experience, great things happen.   “Fun activities like this is what make Spanish Fork Jr. High and our students so great!” Ms. Cline said at the end of day.  We couldn’t agree more.
