On Tuesday, October 17, Mrs. Kelly’s College and Career Awareness classes experienced job interviews for the first time. Students were told to fill out a job application telling all about themselves and answering job-related questions. They pretended they were five years older than they actually were, and even responded to college inquiries.

After filling out an application, each student was given a partner. Before interviewing each other, the students were lectured on the importance of first impressions and interviewing etiquette. The partnership would trade off between acting as the employer and acting as the applicant. While starting to interview each other, the students asked their partners questions such as “Why do you want this job?” and “How will having this job benefit you?”

Students learned so much as they participated in this assignment. They were also reminded that having a short-time job can give you great experience for your long-term career goal.
