Our world is full of people, yet everyone feels alone. Its true there are plenty of chances to get to know someone on a phone. There are things like

  • Facebook
  • Snapchat
  • Instagram
  • Whatsapp
  • Wechat
  • Tumblr
  • Twitter
  • Skype
  • Pinterest
  • Linkedin
  • Telegram
  • Youtube
  • Vine

 BUT...Social media doesn't count

Social media is fun and a great time killer. But there is a slight issue with them; they can’t help you with your social skills. The American Loneliness Epidemic: Are Poor Social Skills to Blame?  Says “that about 46% of all Americans feel lonely most or all the time”.

This is all because they don’t know how to talk to people. They struggle with making friends and even just smiling at someone on the streets. We just need to break the barrier and take a chance.

We learn from people who influences us.

The reason why they can’t be social is because they never got the chance to learn how.

When we are young we learn everything we need to know to make friends, to share, and to get along nicely with other kids. Until now there were no problems with that but now kids spend all there time on there phones.

You might think I am crazy, but just think about it. Have you ever been to a restaurant and you look a see a family sitting together? Then a little girl starts crying and the parent just gives the child there phone instead of reasoning with them.

Do you see what's wrong with that picture? They didn’t learn anything. Kids need to learn how to use their words. They should have said what was bothering them and how to fix using their social skills. “Social skills are mostly learned over time, beginning in your family of origin and continuing throughout life.”

That means that we need to spend time with children. They learn everything from us. We need to put down our phones and just talk to kids so they will have happy, healthy lives.

 What do you think?

  • Do you think kids should have phones?
  • Do you think social media counts as being social?
  • Do you struggle with talking to people?
  • Who do you look up to?
  • Are they a good example?

Please give your opinion because it matters.
