Play with a pro at Spanish Fork Jr. High!

“Strike up the band!” seems to be the Spanish Fork Junior High Band’s motto.  Filled with energy and enthusiasm, SFJH band students have been practicing and performing with purpose and determination, honing their craft and striving for excellence.  Here’s what they’ve accomplished so far this year.

This past July SFJH students attended Summer Band Camp. Students from four different schools in Nebo district got together and performed for Pioneer Day at the Spanish Fork City Park then got together afterwards for a BBQ hosted by parent volunteers.

For the few weeks, students have prepared for the Halloween performance.   Several guest musicians came to help instruct the students.   These guests are professional musicians and recording artists from freelance musicians to recording artists, musicians at Temple Square, the University of Utah, and from the Nebo Philharmonic.  A big thank you goes out to mentor performers: Lisa Wattcott (flute), Amy Gabbitas (clarinet), Jory Woodis (saxaphone), Laura Bigler (trumpet), Kathy Colton (French horn), Danielle Dinkleman (low brass), and Gavin Ryan (percussion) for their help with sectionals (small groups of students).  Later, the entire band participated in a clinic by Scott Hagen.

On October 24, at Spanish Fork High School Gym, SFJH students dressed in their Halloween best and treated concert goers to a Spook-tacular performance.
