PTA Reflections Winners Announced

Time's up everyone! Our school's PTA Reflections winners have been announced and we have people moving on to Council level in each of the divisions—dance choreography, literature, music composition, photography, visual arts, film/video production, three dimensional art, and theater. The deadline for any entrees was October 27 and our theme was this year was “Diversity Means....” and the students had to fill in the blank and they each got different awards.

The Award of Excellence (1st place) received a medallion and $10, Award of Merit (2nd place) received a medallion and $5, and Honorable Mention received a medallion. Others received ribbons and all received certificates. Award of Merit's and Award of Excellence winners go on to compete at the Council level for 7th and 8th grades and Award of Excellence winners only for 9th grade go on to the Council level!

The Award of Excellence winners for ninth grade are: Jessica Corey, she chose literature and her title was “The Lesson of the Greek.” Hailey Boggess chose photography and her title was “Different.” Kenny VanAusdal's title was “Diversity is a Mustache” and his category was visual arts. Danny Badger did three dimensional art and the title of his project was “The Footshoe.”

The people moving to Council level from eighth grade are: Kyla Rogers who participated in three different categories—music compostion, film production, and theater. She took the Award of Excellence in all three and her titles were; In music,“Making the World Safe for Diversity” in film, “Diversity is everywhere” and in theater, “What's your flavor?” Elise Wilson took the Award of Merit in the music division. Her title was “Helping Each Other with Differences Work Together.” Janelle Slater took the Award of Excellence in the visual arts category. The title of her project was “Night and Day.” In three dimensional art, Coulson Boggess took the Award of Excellence with the title of “The Lady.”

The people who are moving to Council level from seventh grade are: Jane Eyre took the Award of Excellence in the division of dance choreography. Her title was “Ballet Allows me to be Diverse.” Annabelle Beck participated in literature and her title was “Diversity Means....” she also took the Award of Excellence. Kiara Wilkerson took the Award of Merit with the title of “Different in Any Way.” She, too, participated in literature. Nathan Wengreen chose photography and his project was called “Diversity Means.” He won first place (Award of Excellence). Cameron Bradshaw chose photography as well and took the Award of Merit. His title was “Standing Out Isn't a Bad Thing.” Jackson Badger's title was “Tables Turned” and he took the Award of Merit in three dimensional art.

Last, the people who took Honorable Mention in any division are: Elise Wilson, Talia McKinney, Marianna Tonga, Danna Wilson and Rosie Boel.

We are very proud of everyone who participated in reflections. We had a great turn out! We wish everyone luck in the next level.
