SFHS Dons Get Off to a Great Start

Many of you may know that Spanish Fork’s High School varsity football team started their season a couple of days before school started on the August 21st.   Now the Dons are five games into their season and are doing great. They hold a record of four wins and a lone loss.

The Dons started their season at home by playing the Park City Miners. This game was very lopsided and ended in a 53-0 blowout in favor of the Dons.  In this meeting, the Dons looked very good with their defense being the most impressive.

The Dons next traveled to Springville on the August 24th to play their rivals the Red Devils.  This was a close and exciting game that ended in a 28-14 win for the Dons. Once again the defense shined with some key stops.  The whole team was very happy with their 2-0 record

American Fork then traveled to Spanish Fork to take on our Dons. This was a very close game, but the Dons ended up winning it by the score of 19-13. Everyone was excited that the Dons were off to a 3-0 start.  But the team knew they had a challenge ahead of them in going to Logan to take on the Grizzlies.

The Dons fought and played hard, but Logan was just too much for them to handle. The game would end with a 38-13 score favoring the Grizzlies. Although it was a loss, this game was a good learning experience for the team.

For the fifth game of the season the Dons traveled to Salt Lake City to take on the Bulldogs of Judge Memorial. In this game the offense was impressive which helped the team win 30-10. A 2-1 away record in three games is very impressive and looks promising to the Dons fans of Spanish Fork.

With the record of 4-1 and being ranked 25th in the state of Utah, Spanish Fork will take a two game road trip, first to Carbon, then Juab.   I have to say, this team looks very good, and I’m excited to see them come home and play Delta on the 5th of October.
