Aspen Brinkerhoff, a student at Spanish Fork Junior High School, represented students throughout Utah during the Utah PTSA Days at the State Capitol in Salt Lake City. More than 800 Utah students had the opportunity to meet with Utah leaders, participate in mock debates, listen to speakers and explore the Capitol buildings.

Aspen Brinkerhoff is a ninth grader Spanish Fork Junior High and currently serves as Chair of the Student Leadership Committee for the Utah PTA. The student-led committee was responsible for organizing the event and drafting a resolution on behalf of the PTSA. The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is an organization in which students serve in State and local leadership positions of the Utah PTA .

Aspen Brinkerhoff and Amy Pitts presented a “Thank-you resolution” to the Senate and House, acknowledging legislative contributions in support of Utah's students. Sponsored by Senator Deidre Henderson and Representative Susan Pulsipher, these students had the opportunity to be on the floor as the student resolution was presented to Utah's Senators and Representatives.

In addition to the resolution, Aspen introduced Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox, who answered student questions. She also introduced former Mrs. Utah US Continental, Becca Levie, who discussed dealing with life's challenges and discovering our self-worth.

Several PTSA club members from Spanish Fork High School and Salem High School participated in this year's event, which is becoming an annual highlight for many students.
