Miriam Teodosio presents ideas on a whiteboard while Writers’ Group members explore the merits of each. Conversations escalate into intense debates, sparking new and better ideas, as they engage more deeply in the pre-writing process. Their goal?  They plan to write a story. Together. Through weekly planning sessions, students are discovering how to design the story to accommodate many writers, working out the overarching conflict that will draw each character—and each writer—into the main storyline.

In addition to this collaborative story, students in Writers’ Group support each other’s independent projects. It is common to hear students chatting about the stories they are writing, the characters they are creating, and the ideas that are brewing.  Students, if this sounds like a community you would enjoy, come! All aspiring writers are welcome in Writers’ Group, a Pack Time enrichment activity held on Tuesdays in Mrs. B. Kay’s classroom (room 1).
