During Pack Time, in Mr. Whiting’s science class this week, students and their friends designed, created, and built a python maze.  On Tuesday, experimental design papers were given to each group and the best design was selected.  On Wednesday, the actual maze was designed by the various groups following the parameters from Tuesday.  The best maze design was then selected.  On Thursday and Friday, the real fun began and the class went wild cutting, gluing, and working together to build a python maze collectively.  Quoting Mr. Whiting, “I was pleasantly surprised to see the level of kind cooperation that each student exhibited toward their peers during the construction of the maze.  This quality will serve them well throughout their lives.”

Friday during lunch, the rats were released from one end of the maze and the pythons were released from the other.  Again Mr. Whiting stated, “The kids were much more intrigued than I had initially expected.  Some students were terrified, some were nervous, but the general feeling was excitement.  I heard from students, ‘The whole school is talking about it.’  I am glad it was such a success.  I will be doing similar projects for Spanish Fork Junior High students in the future.  Go Lobos!”
