Students in Mrs. Thacker's and Mrs. Phillip's classes created birthday cards to send to Mark McKell, a Spanish Fork resident turning 101 years old on September 17th.

Mark has lived in Spanish Fork most of his life, leaving only when he was drafted into the Army during World War II.  After he was released from the Army he served the people of Spanish Fork by working in the post office for the next 38 years.

His family has asked the community to help him celebrate his Birthday by sending him a Birthday card in the mail.

Mrs. Thacker's College and Career Awareness classes learned about Family and Human Service Careers last week.  Working in the post office counts as a Family and Human Service Career.  We wanted to help him celebrate his Birthday because he spent so many years helping people and families within our community.

Mrs. Thacker's Teen Living class was learning about how we can build our own self-concepts by helping and serving others.  We were able to serve Mr. McKell and his family by creating Birthday cards for him.

Mrs. Phillips' class created the Birthday cards as a part of their daily writing rotation.

Would you like to send Mark McKell a card?  There is still time.

Send it to Mark McKell, General Delivery, Spanish Fork, UT 84660.
