Teen Author Boot Camp, a writing conference just for teenagers, is excited to offer ten (10) need-based scholarships to qualifying students for the 2016 conference to be held on  March 5, 2016. Students who are interested must apply by  December 28, 2015 and follow the steps outlined on the TABC scholarships page (including a letter of recommendation from their English teacher).

For the last five years, Teen Author Boot Camp (a federal non-profit) has connected teen writers all across Utah and beyond with their favorite authors in an exciting, dynamic setting perfect for learning. Each year there has been a First Chapter Writing Contest  (both junior high and high school division) with prizes of $100 for first place. This year, NYT best-selling authors Margaret Peterson Haddix (Among the Hidden) and Dan Wells (Partials) will be keynotes. An additional 20 other authors will present classes throughout the day. (A detailed list of classes is found atteenauthorbootcamp.com.)

We have opened registration to TABC a little earlier this year to accommodate those students who ask for a ticket to TABC for Christmas.  Brief details of the conference are as follows:

  • When:  Saturday, March 5, 2016, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Where: Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo, Utah
  • Cost: $59 before Jan 5th, 2016. $69 after (includes lunch, snacks, t-shirt, backpack, etc.)
  • Who: teens ages 13-19 (no adults allowed)

We appreciate your help in letting students know about this once-a-year educational opportunity that is unique to this area. We are lucky to have so many authors who are willing to donate their time and skills to teach what they have learned to the best and brightest of today’s students.
