The Play is the Thing

Submitted by david.thacker on

This year's class plays were amazing. The costumes were realistic for the time period, and the shows were so funny! I loved being able to see my friends perform and have fun. I’m so glad they have the opportunity to show their amazing talents and put on a show everyone will love. Words can’t even describe how amazing this show was.

SFJH Students Sweep State Reflections Competition

Submitted by david.thacker on

We recently learned from the state PTA that 4 of the 5 Utah Finalists for the Reflections National Theme Search are from Mr. Lawrence's classes at our school.

Very exciting!

Maybe we will see one of these themes chosen as the Reflections theme for the whole country. The following freshmen were selected to represent Utah in the nationwide search:

1. The Weight of Words - Kacie Slade Spanish Fork Jr High PTSA

2. Tomorrow is a New Beginning - Mekeli Clark Spanish Fork Junior High PTSA

Simile Study

Submitted by david.thacker on

After reading the short story, "The Lie" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., 8th grade English students put their analytical thinking skills to the test.

Using Mrs. Thompson's one-of-a-kind simile generator to express their unique thoughts about lying, her classes produced a collective poem of 70-plus comparisons.

Stop by the North hall to see their creations and to gain some insights about this socially unacceptable no-no. You won't be disappointed, and who knows? It might keep you honest!
