In 7th grade Reading classes, students are presenting their end-of-year reading projects. For his reading project, Nathan Griffiths created a board game based on the book, The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan. The game is a combination of Labyrinth and Chutes and Ladders. It is a game made for four players. To move around the board, you must use portals. Portals let you move one or two spaces depending on the character you choose. The object of the game is to see who can get to the red pyramid (the end) first.

On Thursday May 5th, 2018 Mrs. Kelly’s F.A.C.S exploration class had a “friendship fudge” lab. In her class, students are learning about teen strategies which include self-esteem and friendship. For this lab, the students first separated into their kitchens. Then, the students read the instructions for their “friendship fudge” recipe, sending one person from each kitchen to get supplies. While they were collecting the supplies, the other students began filling sinks with soap and water and wiping down the counters.

This week Mr. Madsen’s science students started reviewing for the end of year SAGE test. Trying to remember all the way back to the beginning of the year, the students got packets to review. The packets were filled with plenty of great things about gravity, mass, forces, and many more. The students were assigned to get in groups of two with the people at their table. The students took turns reading paragraphs of the review sheets and annotating their papers. By the time SAGE comes around, they will be ready to ace the test.

In the Dungeons and Dragons After-School Club, you get to play one of the most well-known roleplay games.  When surveyed during the club, all of the participants said that they enjoyed the club.  One of the players stated, “What I like about Dungeons and Dragons is that there is no goal—you can do what you want.”  Then there is the magic part of the club.  You can play Magic: The Gathering, but if you want your deck personalized, you will have to make your own deck.  The magic tournament is happening on May 3rd.  “One of the things

Board Game Club was a club that started in 3rd term.  It is over, but Parker Coe, who ran it, wants to do it again next year.  It was a fun club, with lots of different games. Kids played whatever games they wanted, and there were many to choose from.

Mrs Harmers 9th grade World Civilizations classes were able to experience life in a trench while learning about WWI. Students learned about the Christmas truce, poison gases, and conditions associated with trench warfare! 

Friday, April 27 was the Disney themed school dance! The dance was held in the lunch room, which was decorated by our impressive student council. There was also a costume competition. People had amazing costumes including Rapunzel, Bell, a Wizard, Queen Guinevere, and even some interesting background characters! It was well attended and everyone looked like they were having fun. There were plenty of beautiful decorations like silhouettes of Disney characters. The music ranged from Disney music to the Cupid Shuffle.

Pepper the Guinea Pig came into Mr. Madsen’s class today for the second time, surprising many students. As the classes continued on, students looked at her with adoration. All of the students from fifth period to seventh period had seen and petted her before, so this was a first for the first four periods of students. Mr. Madsen held and petted her often, and she is simply adorable according to most students.
