Introducing Ms. Brinley Stevens

Submitted by david.thacker on

My name is Ms. Stevens and I am so excited to teach Math 8 this year! I grew up in American Fork, Utah and studied mathematics education at BYU, where I got both my bachelor's and master's degrees (go cougs!). I love math, traveling, playing piano, and playing Legend of Zelda video games. I am a big fan of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and most things Disney. Most importantly, I firmly believe sriracha mayo is the greatest condiment in the world.

I’m Coach Bleyle and I’ll be teaching PE! I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in physical education teaching and coaching. I love being active, getting in the weight room, and playing sports. My favorite sport would have to be volleyball, but I love pretty much all of them! I grew up on a small farm in Missouri with a lot of family.

I am so excited to be the Dean of Students here at Spanish Fork Jr. High. I have always loved the possibility of making a contribution to young people's lives and I am excited to be a part of this school and to work with each and every one of you.

My one and only hobby is being a supportive mother to my three children. I am a professional Taxi driver to my girls by driving them back and forth to dancing, EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I am coming from MJHS where I enjoyed being a counselor there for four years. Prior to that, I had a very rewarding internship at PHS. I am excited to join the SFJH team and know I am among some of the best (so I have heard from many!).

Introducing Zak Nowell

Submitted by david.thacker on

My name is Zak Nowell and I will be teaching P.E.

I grew up in a small town in central Utah on a horse ranch. I enjoy all things outdoors, hunting, hiking, fly fishing, camping, and mowing my lawn! Some of my favorite books are The Odyssey, The Alchemist, Into the Fire, American Sniper, The Princess Bride, Moby Dick, and just about anything by Alexander Dumas. I like too many movies to name them all, but if you have a movie quote, I'll bet I could guess the movie.

I love books! This is why I wanted to teach English/Language Arts. I get to talk about books for a living. There's no greater profession.

I graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. Later, I started teaching 9th and 10th grade ELA, and I've never looked back. I enjoy making books and learning fun, if at all possible. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, which you can tell as soon as you walk into my classroom. But those are not the only books I love. I enjoy reading fiction, nonfiction, historical books, and even some biographies.
