Mid-Summer Lobo Update 7/21/16

Parents, Students and Friends –

We hope you have been having a great summer break and wow - can you believe how quickly August is approaching?

Registration Information
You will need to register your student(s) for the upcoming school year and pay the applicable registration fees in ONE of the three ways outlined below. Please select and complete the method that works best for you -

- Online Registration
We are happy to announce that you are now able to pay most school related fees online, including all registration fees and yearbook costs (Note: a $2.00 transaction fee applies). The system will begin accepting registration payments on July 27th. Below are the steps to set up an account and use the service:
1 - Go to the SFJHS website http://sfjhs.nebo.edu/  and click on the “My School Fees” link on the home page.
2 - Select the “Register” button to the right of the login area to register as a user with My School Fees.
3 - Once you are logged-in; select Spanish Fork Jr. High from the list. You will need your student’s ID number; this is your student’s lunch number - they probably have it memorized, or it can be found by logging into SIS/Aspire, it is the number at the top next to your student’s name.
4 - Click on “Registration Fees” - Your student’s required fees will be listed.
5 - Select “Other Fees” to pay fees like yearbook, sports participation fees, etc.
After paying the required fees, your student will be registered and you will receive an immediate receipt of payment by email. Your student’s class schedule and locker information will be emailed to you later through the Aspire/SIS system. Please allow 1 to 2 days processing time to receive the class schedule.

- Mail-in Registration
If not registering online, we encourage you to register by mail. The mail-in registration form listing applicable fees should arrive by mail at your home around July 28th.  Please make sure we receive your mailed-in registration no later than Wednesday, August 10th. Your student’s class schedule and locker information will be emailed to you through the Aspire/SIS system once we have received the mail-in registration form with payment. Please mail the registration form to:  Spanish Fork Junior High School, 600 S. 820 E. Spanish Fork UT 84660

- Walk-in Registration
If you do not register online or by mail, you will need to come into the school for walk-in registration held on Tuesday, August 2nd and Wednesday August 3rd from 8:00am - 3:30pm.

Fee Waivers
If you think you may qualify for a fee waiver, you must apply at the school during walk-in registration on August 2nd and 3rd. Verification of income is required.

Join SFJHS PTA This Year and Be Involved!
Look for more information about supporting PTA in the registration mailer.  PTA is not a time commitment if you don't want it to be.  Your membership and support alone help create many wonderful experiences and opportunities for students as well as helping our amazing teachers and staff. There are opportunities to be involved if you would like, as well as many benefits to students AND parents when parents are involved and show support. Join now with a small $5 membership fee. PTA Reflections
Plan now for Reflections!  2016-17 Theme: "What is Your Story?" - Reflections submissions are due to the front office by Oct. 14, 2016!

Please Update Your Aspire/SIS Contact Information
By way of reminder, please be sure to visit www.nebo.edu/parents and verify and update your contact information, including email and phone numbers. To do this, click on the “Aspire SIS (Student Information System)” link and log into your account.  If you have not previously created a parent/guardian account you will need to do so. It is easy to do and instructions, including video tutorials, are available directly below the login link in the “getting started” section. This process will allow us to have better contact with you, and allow you to access your student’s grades, attendance and other important information throughout the school year.

7th Grade Day and SFJHS Open House – Monday, August 22nd
All 7th graders are invited to attend 7th Grade Day on Monday, August 22nd from 9:00-11:00am.  Students will have the opportunity to attend an orientation assembly, go to each of their classes, meet their teachers and practice opening their lockers. Busing will not be provided so please plan your own transportation as needed.  Later that same day from 1:00-3:00pm there will be an Open House for students of all grades and their parents/guardians. Teachers will be in their rooms and available to answer any questions you may have.

7th Grade Immunization Requirements
To attend the 7th grade in Utah a student must have proof of receiving the Meningococcal vaccine and the Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) booster. The kindergarten Tdap does not count as the booster requirement for 7th grade. This is in addition to other immunizations which should have already been completed and on file (i.e. MMR, DTaP, Polio, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella). You will not be able to receive a schedule or start 7th grade without the school having this information on file. Parents may bring in or mail in a copy of the immunization document from the Health Department or doctor’s office as proof of required vaccinations. For those needing immunizations, there will be a clinic held at Diamond Fork Jr. High (50 N. 900 E.) on August 3rd, from 9:00am - 1:00pm.  Most health insurance plans will be accepted or you may pay directly at the clinic.

Free/Reduced Lunch
Applications for free/reduced school lunch must be completed online. To apply for free or reduced lunch visit the Nebo District - Parent Home Page https://www.nebo.edu/parents and click on “Free & Reduced Lunch Information”.  Please do this as soon as possible so your student can receive free/reduced lunch on the first day.

Early Out Day Changing to Monday
Please note that early out day has changed and school will release at 1:55pm on Mondays instead of Wednesdays in order to allow for teacher collaboration meetings.  Tuesdays through Fridays the school day will be from 8:00am to 2:40pm.
