Jamie Dannelly Voted PTA Teacher of the Year

Ms. Dannelly teaches 7th Grade English at Spanish Fork Jr. High and is loved by her students. A former student Cassie Rawe said, “My favorite thing about Ms. Dannelly is that she is always happy. She is always smiling. She is just a bright person, always smiling and happy. She understands people a lot. She is really easy to talk to. I still visit her even though she is not my teacher anymore.” Rennan Anderson said, “Ms. Dannelly is always taking the time to make sure that each student can earn the grade they want. She is always happy and never lets us down. She is always smiling and happy. I love being in Ms. Dannelly’s class.”

Ms. Dannelly is also loved and respected by her colleagues. Ms. Parker said, “The most visible attribute of Jaimie is her easy-going nature. She is super easy to work with. Her love of English, especially reading and writing, spills over and fuels her students. Her contributions to our team have been invaluable. We love her!” Ms. Dannelly works effectively in her PLC team, teaches the English Inclusion classes, participates in the school wide annual Poetry Slam, is a co-advisor to the Student Council, teaches a Greek Mythology after-school club, and attends sporting and fine arts events to support her students whenever possible.

Ms. Dannelly is a highly qualified teacher who graduated from SUU with High Honors. She has her ESL Endorsement and is starting her Master’s Degree program in the fall. She is a member of NEA and attended the Central Utah Writing Project. She is always actively seeking to improve her craft through professional development opportunities.

Teaching Philosophy: I believe that every student has the ability to succeed, but first, they need to believe in themselves. My goal is to foster an intrinsic love of learning in students and encourage them to view their world from different perspectives to broaden their horizons. I try to foster an open and safe classroom where students feel validated in their academic and social skills. I try to help students understand that they have many strengths and help them use those strengths to improve on their weaknesses. Teaching academics is only part of what I work on in my classroom; I also want to students to learn to be responsible and accountable for their own actions, respectful of others and themselves, and to have a desire to be a positive contributor to society.
