Certain classes at SFJHS will be participating in what is called Mindful Minute. What this is is a time dedicated at the beginning of class, a few times a week, where students have a full minute of mindfulness. This is a quiet, uninterrupted time where no one talks or works on anything else, but just focuses on their breathing and listens to their body. The practice will help students focus on the present rather than ruminate about the past or worry about the future. The hope is that this practice will help students deal more effectively with all the stress and expectations of the day and transition to efficient learning. The school counselors will be tracking the effectiveness of this program, on our students, by administering pre and post-tests. If you would like more information about this program, please contact your school counselor.
