How Fast are You?

Submitted by david.thacker on

It’s the beginning of the year, and the Spanish Fork Junior High PE teachers are already working their students hard.  Coach Johnson’s classes were zipping around the track the other day, so he could record their first times on the mile run.

How long has it been since you’ve run a mile?  What is your most current time?

Could you beat Mr. Johnson’s students?

Counselors Connect with Seventh-Grade Scholars

Submitted by david.thacker on

The SFJH counseling staff went into all 7th grade College and Career Awareness classes last week and discussed preparing for college and future careers, developing time management skills, and making good choices.

The counselors enjoyed listening to student discussions, playing games (college and career corn hole), and leading other group activities.  It not only gave counselors an opportunity to talk to students about important subjects, but it also let the students meet their school counselors and start feeling comfortable with them.

Seventh-grade Science Students Aim for the Moon

Submitted by david.thacker on

In Mr. Whiting's 7th grade science classes, the students designed and built Lunar Landers.

On Monday, August 26th, students started making their Landers. The experiment was seeing if they could make a Lunar Lander using a Dixie cup and a golf ball. Students had to put the golf ball in a Dixie cup and drop it off the roof. The materials provided were straws, rubber bands, Elmer’s glue, toothpicks, and tape.
