Submitted by david.thacker on

This week in Advanced PE many students chose to play War Ball!  War ball is a great game that many students at our school enjoy.

Showing off arm strength and quick feet are two major factors in playing war ball.  What an awesome group of students and what a fun class!!!

Student’s Complimentary Letters Bring Replies

Submitted by david.thacker on

In his book Life, the Truth, and Being Free, Steve Maraboli reminds us, “I will sprinkle compliments and uplifting words everywhere I go. I will do this knowing that my words are like seeds and when they fall on fertile soil, a reflection of those seeds will grow into something greater.”

Mrs. Thompson’s English students sowed the seeds of compliments earlier this year when they wrote letters of compliment to various businesses last term.  Now those seeds are sprouting and growing!

Freshmen Learn About Geographic Information Systems at UVU

Submitted by david.thacker on

The 9th grade geography and world civilizations classes had the awesome opportunity to participate in the UVU Geographic Information System—GIS-- day.

While on campus, students were able to get an idea of how GIS is used in everyday life and discover what occupations use GIS routinely. Students were given the opportunity to listen to GIS professionals and ask questions, as well as give the equipment a try themselves.

Veteran’s Day Assembly

Submitted by david.thacker on

All week we celebrated Veteran’s Day at SFJHS. Several ways we did this were by veterans’ pictures hanging up in our front windows, and the art classes drawing pictures of soldiers. Also, the quote in front of the office was, “Home of the free because of the brave.”  On Nov. 11, we had an assembly in honor of Veteran’s Day. It started off with the veterans doing the flag ceremony and Miss Provstgaard beautifully singing the Star Spangled Banner.

World History Classes Become Reformers

Submitted by david.thacker on

Mrs. Harmer’s class recently got a taste of what the Protestant Reformation would have been like as they wrote down their own theses or arguments for change of school policies and practices.

They even got to do what Martin Luther did and “nail” them to the principal’s door!

Socktober

Submitted by david.thacker on

The Honor’s Society members at SFJHS recently sponsored Socktober.  Over 400 pairs of new socks were collected for families in our community. Even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of those in need!

Thanks for Rockin’ Socktober SFJHS!
