LANCE CONRAD visits SFJHS

Submitted by david.thacker on

Beloved author, Lance Conrad, came to SFJHS to tell our English students stories about broken noses, books, getting maced, curiosity, elements of stories, and how he became an author. He talked about experiences of endless books and making good stories. He told us about the most important element of a story. He made us laugh, worry, cringe, and learn about writing stories. Lance talked about his books, the plot, the characters, the villains, and much more.

Students Exercise Mind and Body With Yoga

Submitted by david.thacker on

YOGA!!!!  Yoga is a fun way to help your body relax and calm down.  It is also a great workout!  Many students in our junior high school get a small taste of what yoga is like in Coach Johnson's Body Conditioning class.  Once they’ve been introduced to this form of working out, many enjoy it!

Yoga will also help with one’s flexibility and many other aspects of their athletic careers.

Freshmen Build Greek Temples

Submitted by david.thacker on

Ms. Harmer’s 9th grade World Civilizations class had an awesome hands-on experience building Greek temples out of common school supplies today.

Students learned about the different styles and types of columns.  They also learned the different parts of a Greek temple.  Each of their creations needed to show these parts!

Letter Love

Submitted by david.thacker on

After the recent tragedy of the Florida school shooting, a neighboring school in Florida asked if people around the globe would write hand-written letters to the students at Stoneman Douglas High School to remind them they are loved. Mrs. Parker’s 7th-grade class decided to do just that.
