September Students of the Month

Submitted by alesha.lemmon on

Today we celebrated the September Students of the Month! These are students who exemplify The Lobo Way by strengthening, learning, forgiving and accepting, and using their voice.

Students are nominated by teachers in every department. Students earning a Student of the Month recognition receive a certificate of recognition and a Lobo Lunch. All have the opportunity to introduce themselves, enjoy lunch with faculty and administration, and hang out in the Lobo Den playing ping pong, foosball, and other games.

Seventh-graders Find Studying Utah’s Geography Delicious!

Submitted by david.thacker on

Mrs. Freeland's class has been learning about the 3 regions in Utah--The Great Basin Region, the Colorado Plateau Region and the Rocky Mountain Region.

The students were able to show their knowledge by making a region map of Utah using graham crackers, frosting, air heads, marshmallows and chocolate chips.  It made for a good and delicious review of Utah's Regions!

End of Summer Splash!

Submitted by david.thacker on

The SFJHS PE/Health department was not quite ready to let summer slip away without one last swim party.

Many students and their families came and enjoyed the Spanish Fork Pool on Friday September 1st. We’re happy so many people came out.  It’s great to be active!  And it’s so fun!

A big “Thank you!” to the all those who helped out in this activity-- especially Brad Graham and all the employees at the Spanish Fork Water Park.

If you think this should become a yearly tradition, like this post on our Facebook page.

Eclipse 2017 - Cross-Curricular Connection: Science and English

Submitted by alesha.lemmon on

On Monday, August 21, SFJHS students enjoyed watching the solar eclipse outside on the south lawn. The science teachers had created viewing projectors and viewing boxes, so even those who did not have solar eclipse rated glasses, could still see the moon eclipse the sun.

7th Grade English students have an opportunity this week to read their first article of the month titled “What is an Eclipse?” This will be the first of many cross-curricular connections for SFJHS students this year.
