A new teacher, Mr. Tuckett, is teaching a whole new choir in a whole new school. The Lobo Howl interviewed Mr. Tuckett to find out a bit more about him.  We are sharing this information with you.

Lobo Howl:  How are you adapting to teaching choir at a new school?

Tuckett:  It's just like anything else, after a while you get used to it.

Howl:  Is it hard having new students, at a new school?

Tuckett:  It's not so bad, like I said previously, you get used to it.

SFJHS wrestlers finished out the season on top! As a result of the wrestlers' excellent performances during the season, many of them placed in the top brackets at state. Some of those athletes chose to work through crippling injuries that would have stopped lesser athletes from competing.

The Lobo Howl interviewed Ethan Morley, and Braxton Merriweather, both members of the junior high wrestling team.

Ethan, a middle weight wrestler, pulled a muscle in his neck and injured his knee.  Still, he competed in the tournaments.

The Spanish Fork Dons won the regional swim meet. By placing first or second at regions, many of the swimmers qualified for the State Finals.

Qualifying team members were:  Amber Dowling JR, Chet Oxborrow SR, McKay Lewis SR, Colten Christensen JR, Vance Oxborrow JR, Jace Parkinson JR, Natalie Parkinson SR, Emily Winsor JR, Konlin Gappmayer JR, Zack Slaymaker SR, McLane Beckstead JR, Jairus Pace SR, Adam Hunter SR.

The State Finals were held on February 8th and 9th,  2013 at the BYU aquatic center.

Some talented girl's from our school made it onto the high school girls’ basketball team! As of January 30, their record was 8-2 with only two more games left in the regular season.

This reporter interviewed Camrie Young.

Camrie Young also plays post. Basketball is her first love. The thing she likes best about the sport is “it’s fast-paced, fun and aggressive!”  Camrie feels if she gets more aggressive, her team will be able to do better.

Our Spanish Fork Lady Lobos basketball team has represented our school well! They have only lost four games, winning at least eight! Their last regular season game was on January 30, but the season won’t end for them until the District Tournament!

This reporter had a chance to interview two players, Lauren Roberts and Kaylee Hudson.

After a win against the Knights of Springville, our Lobos continued their winning streak with a victory over the Payson Grizzlies.  This game was a good test for our team and helped us prepare for the Nebo end of season tournament.

After a decent start to the season, our 9th grade boys’ basketball took on the Springville Junior High Knights.  This game would prove to be a very good one.  The Lobos were able to pull out of this game with an impressive win.

The Knights came out shooting.   They would go on a 9-0 scoring run to start off the game, and they would keep the lead until just before halftime.  Our boys would fight back to go up one point at halftime.  This comeback was defiantly a team effort, demonstrating how the Lobos have started to develop as a team.

Every morning around seven o’clock, Jazz Band students come to school.  Hand-picked by SFJHS band teacher Mr. Wendell picks, students learn then perform Jazz music.  Currently, they are working on songs entitled Doxy, Martinique, All Blues, and Plunger Power.

The Lobo Howl asked Mr. Wendell what the students have to do in order to get into Jazz Band.  “Students need to be well disciplined, be good musicians, they need to have a love for music, and they need to be brave in order to do solos,” he explained. 

The Lobo Howl has chosen Mr. David Huff for our Teacher Spotlight this month.  We are very grateful for his work at Spanish Fork Junior High.

Mr. Huff grew up in Benjamin, Utah and went to Benjamin Elementary. His favorite class was band, and his favorite grade was 12th.

School can be very stressful with all of the assignments in class, grades, homework you do, and the drama that unfolds when your GPA is too low for your parents to accept. These problems are just a few of the factors that cause people to despise education.  As a result, some choose to stop caring about school while others decide to learn anything at all.
