On Friday, October 19th, the Honors Math classes took a field trip to Kennecott Bingham Copper Mine.  It was fun and informative.  First of all, we found out some cool facts about the mine and the equipment from one of the guides.  Did you know that the mine is 3/4 of a mile deep and 2 3/4 miles wide?  One of the big dump trucks is as big as an average two-story house and carries between 250 to 320 tons of ore!!  It takes 1000 gallons of gas to fill the tank and the tires cost $32,000 EACH and are about 12 feet tall.  Wow!!!  Some of the students an

The Jr. Honor Society is excited to sponsor Red Ribbon Week all next week! The theme for the week is "healthy lifestyles." Healthy eating, good mental health, and anti-drugs and anti-alcohol.

 Mrs. Coxson – Teacher of the Month

Our teacher of the month at Spanish Fork Junior High is Sandy Coxson.  Mrs. Coxson is involved in many activities both at the school and in the community.  She is always the first one to volunteer her time and talents to whatever task is needed.  She works hard to make our school a wonderful place to learn.  Everyone she comes in contact with feels valued.  Her influence is felt in every aspect of our school from sports, activities, academics etc.

Two Spanish Fork Jr. High 9th graders that play on the high school's Varsity tennis team went to Region last Friday (September 28) and both of them went undefeated and won Region for Spanish Fork High School with their team. Alison Damon plays 3rd Singles on Varsity and was undefeated the entire season and took home the 1st place medal. Tessa Christensen plays 2nd Doubles on Varsity and also too home a 1st place medal on Friday. Both girls will be going to State this Friday (October 5) with the high school team.

The PTA is holding their annual reflections contest and this years theme is "The Magic of a Moment...."

Mrs. Nielsen and this year’s journalism class are glad to announce that we will continue to publish the Lobo Howl.  For all the seventh graders out there, the Lobo Howl is our incredibly awesome, school wide newspaper. We have reporters that will cover basically anything and everything that involves Spanish Fork Junior High that is newsworthy.  We will try to have new editions out every other week.

It's that time of year again.  Park and Recreation Football is finally here!  So for those of you who are wondering about this year's 7th and 8th grade Park and Rec Football, this is your lucky day.

Many of you may know that Spanish Fork’s High School varsity football team started their season a couple of days before school started on the August 21st.   Now the Dons are five games into their season and are doing great. They hold a record of four wins and a lone loss.         

The Dons started their season at home by playing the Park City Miners. This game was very lopsided and ended in a 53-0 blowout in favor of the Dons.  In this meeting, the Dons looked very good with their defense being the most impressive.

Our Cross Country racers are off to a good start.   At a recent meet held Friday September 7, 2012, this Howl reporter got to see our incredible runners in action.

The team was amazing.  There was lots of fun, and excitement.  A level of confidence was in all the runners.  They were all well trained and knew what they had to do to win.  Most of them were really humble, but they all did amazing.

Our girls team got 4th place and our boys got 3rd.   Runner Heston Anderson took 2nd overall.

The tennis girls are back, and they're ready! On Thursday, September 6th, the Spanish Fork Lobo tennis team played their first game of the season at Salem Jr. High School.
