On October 12, 2021, the Spanish Fork Junior High band visited Brigham Young University. The field trip started with the opportunity to watch the BYU Wind Ensemble rehearse. Students described the rehearsal as "exciting and cool", "motivating" and "very fun". They enjoyed listening to advanced players on each of their instruments and talking with Dr. Shawn Smith, conductor of the BYU Wind Ensemble.
We rounded out the trip by braving the cold weather to watch the Spanish Fork Marching Dons compete at the Rocky Mountain Invitational held in LaVell Edwards Stadium. The students enjoyed cheering on the high school band and then eating dinner provided by the high school band boosters.
