After reading Chris Crowe’s Getting Away with Murder: The True Story of the Emmett Till Case, Mrs. Thompson’s students chose one picture from the civil rights movement then researched the people and events featured. Using the informational text structures they’d learned in the previous unit, students created museum placards to showcase their findings.

In honor of Black History Month, their incredible writing will be on display in the library the entire month of February. We invite students, parents, teachers, and community members to stop by and scan the QR codes in order to learn more about this pivotal time in our nation’s history.
