Last weekend, middle school and junior high band students from all over Nebo District were nominated by their teachers to participate in the first annual Nebo School District Junior High Honor band. Students were nominated for playing ability, exemplary behavior, good grades and dedication. Students prepared a fabulous concert in just one weekend.

This was an amazing educational experience for members of the band. Students rehearsed Friday with our incredible guest conductor, Dr. Jared Rawlings, who serves as Associate Professor of Music Education and Associate Director of the School of Music at The University of Utah. Students also participated in sectionals led by professional musicians and teachers who specialize on their instruments. After a brief dress rehearsal Saturday morning, and after only rehearsing together for a total of 8 hours, students were ready to perform their music at a concert. The students were up to the challenge and performed phenomenally!

Students loved having the opportunity to meet other musicians from each of the schools and to prepare challenging and exciting music in a short time. They also loved learning from and connecting with professionals in our community.

Congratulations to the musicians who found their voice, learned with passion and honorably represented our school in the honor band this year: Felicity Snyder, Darakai Sok, Jacie Roberts, Spencer Oliverson, Mikel Miles, Braxton Beardall, Bowen Barker, Ben Spencer, Bryce Deveraux, Sarah Froelich, Jared Bawden and Payton Turner. Go Lobos!!

Thank you to all of the fabulous educators, clinicians, and conductors who were involved. There is a lot of musical talent in our district! Go Nebo Bands!
