Welcome Back To School

July 20, 2021

Dear SFJHS Parents and Guardians,

We hope you have been enjoying a great summer! It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2021-2022

school year at Spanish Fork Junior High School. We are excited to begin a new school year and have our

students back in the building. We want to welcome any students new to SFJHS this year! We are excited

to have all of you at our school along with our returning students. This will be a fun and exciting year as

we transition to a student body of 8th and 9th grade students! We want to share some information that

will help you prepare for the upcoming school year.

Open House

An Open House will be held on August 17th from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. All students and parents are

invited to come find classrooms, meet teachers and visit the school. Teachers will be in their

classrooms for visits. We encourage all students to attend the Open House, especially any

students new to Spanish Fork Junior High. We would love to answer any questions and help in any

way we can. We will have maps of the school available.

Online Registration

Online registration for the 2021-22 school year opened this Spring in Infinite Campus. Please click

on the following link If you still need to complete the registration process. Information and

instructions for registering are provided: https://www.nebo.edu/registration. The online

registration process consists of providing or verifying your student's information and electronically

signing any documents required by the district and state.

If you have moved, please upload your new proof of residency into Infinite Campus. New students

will need to upload a birth certificate, proof of residency, and current immunizations. These

documents must be uploaded in order to complete the online registration process.

Your student will be enrolled into classes after the school verifies that the online registration process

has been completed and that all required documentation has been provided to the school. If you do

not have computer access at home or need assistance, there will be SFJHS staff available to help

August 3rd through August 13th from 9:00am to 2:00pm each day. You are also welcome to call our

counseling office at 801-798-4075 if you have questions regarding registration.

Student schedules will be available on August 2nd in Infinite Campus.

School Fees and Fee Waivers

School fees may be paid online by going to myschoolfees.com. Other items such as the Chromebook

Protection Plan and yearbooks can also be paid through My School Fees. These items are listed

under “optional fees.” All credit card transactions, whether in person or online, will incur a $2 fee as

directed by a recent district finance policy. School lunch will be free to all students again this year.

Administrators will be available to help with fee waivers on August 4th and August 6th from

9:00am-2:00pm. It is necessary to apply for a fee waiver annually; last year’s application will not be

valid for this school year. Students may receive a fee waiver for one of the following reasons:

Family receives TANF (currently qualified for financial assistance or food stamps)

Student receives Supplemental Security Income (qualified child with disabilities)

Student qualifies for McKinney-Vento

Student is in Foster Care (under Utah or local governmental supervision) or State Custody

Student is eligible based on family/household income verification

Please bring the required income verification as described in the fee waiver application as well as the

application English Fee Waiver Application // Spanish Fee Waiver Application.

Chromebooks

We will be one-to-one with chromebooks again this year. Students can be issued a school

chromebook that can be used at school as well as be taken home each day. A parent permission

form will be sent home on the first day of school and will need to be signed and returned before

students are issued a chromebook. If a student opts to not use a school chromebook they will

need to have a device to use in class. Students will need to have their chromebook charged and

ready for use in classes each day. The cost to replace a damaged or stolen chromebook is $300

and will be charged to the student unless an optional $30 Protection Plan is purchased at the

beginning of the school year. Insurance Plan and Loan Agreement

Chromebook Protection Plan

An optional Chromebook Protection Plan is available for $30. This will cover the initial cost of a

lost or damaged chromebook. We encourage parents to purchase the Chromebook Protection

Plan in case of loss or damage. The cost to replace a chromebook is up to $300. This fee will be

assessed to the student in the event of a lost, stolen or damaged chromebook. The Chromebook

Protection Plan can be paid for online through myschoolfees.com along with all other fees listed

under “optional fees.” Additional information regarding the Chromebook Protection Plan coverage

is located on our website at https://sfjhs.nebo.edu/content/parent-and-student-information.

Counseling/Schedule Changes

Any students needing a class change can fill out the Google Form that will be accessible starting

August 2nd. For those needing to meet with a counselor, they will be available for class changes by

appointment, August 4th-and 5th from 8:00am – 2:00pm. You can set an appointment with your

counselor by email. Class changes can be made without a fee until August 13th. Requests made

between the 14th and the 20th will require a $5.00 class change fee. Class changes will be limited

as we try to keep class sizes balanced.

Busing

Students living at least 2 miles from the school are eligible for busing. If you are unsure whether your

student qualifies for busing or you need to know where the bus stop is located, you can find this

information at https://www.nebo.edu/transportation. You may also call Transportation at

801-465-6005.

Lockers

We will not be assigning lockers to every student this year. However, if you would like a locker,

students will be able to request a locker by completing a Google Form that will be sent out in August.

Backpacks

Students will be allowed to carry their backpacks to classes again this year. We encourage students

to use a backpack to store their chromebook in to help keep it secure and protected when not being

used.

Picture Day

Picture day is on Monday, August 30th. Picture order forms will be sent home with students during

the first week of school. Parents can also prepay for school pictures online at

www.bellphotostore.com with the code sfjrfall21. Access will be available approximately two weeks

prior to picture day. Picture retakes will be on September 30th.

School Community Council

We welcome parent involvement on our School Community Council! Parents who would like to be

part of the School Community Council must have a student currently enrolled at SFJHS and be willing

to serve a two-year term if your student is enrolled both years. School Community Council elections

will be held Monday, August 16th through Friday, August 20th. If you are interested in participating,

please email our School Community Council facilitator, Jessica Lindley (Jessica.lindley [at] nebo.edu),

and let her know your interest by August 11th. You may also nominate other SFJHS parents by

emailing Mrs. Lindley.

PTA

PTA NEEDS YOUR HELP! We're looking for more volunteers for PTA this year. Because of the 2 year

time in junior high school, we're hoping to have 2 people in every position so everyone can have a

year of serving in the position with someone who knows what they're doing and then training

someone the following year in their positions. We also need volunteers for committees. Come and

Play with PTA!
