Parents, Students and Friends –

SIS/Aspire (check your student’s grades and missing assignments)

Nebo School District provides parental access to student’s grades, citizenship and attendance through Aspire online database.  Aspire is a valuable tool for both parents and students.  You can check your student’s grades, missing assignments, attendance and citizenship marks.  When you click on the class name you are able to see individual assignments and scores.  We encourage all parents and students to use Aspire on a regular basis to stay informed. You can even set up daily or weekly automatic emails of the student summary by clicking on “manage subscription”. Because Aspire is web based, it can be accessed anywhere by following this link - https://sisweb.nebo.edu/Login/ or by clicking on the SIS Grades/Attendance link under the Parents tab on the district website. If you have never used Aspire before, signing up for an account is fast and simple - just follow the link below the login box to “request a user name”. You will need to know your student’s ID number (lunch number) and birthday to create a parent/guardian account.

 C’s B’s and A’s by the Holidays

It’s awesome - It’s amazing - It’s C’s B’s and A’s by the Holidays - You can earn cash prizes if all of your grades are C or above - Here’s why and how: After Thanksgiving there are only 4 weeks until Christmas and then after Christmas you only have a few days until the end of the term. Because of this 2nd term is traditionally when students get their lowest grades - we want to change that! We are hoping that every student will take the challenge to stay caught up and have only C’s B’s and A’s by the Holidays so that after Christmas your grades will be in good shape for the end of the term. Here’s how it will work... Every Friday we will randomly select six students (two per grade level) we will look up their grades and if they have only C’s and above they will win five dollars. If the student we looked up has a deficient grade the prize rolls over to the next Friday and a student could win ten dollars. The drawings begin this Friday, November 18th. Keep those grades up and - Good Luck!

Computer Science/Coding Field Trip Opportunity - All SFJHS Girls Invited

Attention all junior high aged girls and their parents - we have an awesome opportunity coming up on Thursday, Dec 8th.  Nebo's Advanced Learning Center (ALC) in Springville is inviting 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls to their site to view the documentary, CodeGirl.  It is about a group of junior and senior high aged girls who make a difference in their community by writing apps and computer programs.  The field trip is December 8th, and will last all morning - buses will pick up girls here at SFJHS at 9:00am and return them back to school in time for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon.  This is a FREE field trip targeting girls who are either really interested in or just curious about computer science and coding.  Girls will view the film and have some popcorn, participate in a few activities, and have a chance to tour the ALC to see what programs and opportunities they can participate in during high school years.  Interested girls can pick up a flyer and parent permission slip from their math teacher, and then return it to the Counseling Office by December 1st.

 Thanks Classified Staff

Wednesday, November 16th is classified appreciation day, and with that we want to let all our secretaries, classroom technicians, school lunch workers and bus drivers know how much we appreciate and value what they do for our school. Business runs so smoothly because of all of your work and efforts. Thanks again classified staff; it is when all of us work together, students, parents, faculty and staff that we may truly attain our school vision of high levels of student learning!
