Parents, Students, and Friends –

SHAKESPEARE TEAM HAPPENINGS
Monday - The junior high drama teachers in the district are bringing together their Shakespeare Competition Teams to undergo a Mock Adjudication before travelling to Cedar City for Competitions. The Shakespeare Teams have been working on their individual competition selections since May and are really excited to participate in the adjudication.

On Thursday, the Shakespeare Competition team will be travelling to Cedar City to compete against a lot of schools in acting and dance. We're excited about our fabulous team and the work they've done to prepare for this huge competition. We wish them the best and look forward to seeing the results of their hard work on October 3rd at 7:30 pm. The team will be showcasing their competition selections on that Tuesday night. It's open to friends, family and the community. Come support our students and see how awesome they are on October 3rd.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Our after school clubs are up and running!  Students can still join if they would like; get a form from Mr. Ferrin, Mrs. Green or the office.  Our clubs are:

  • Mondays: Improv club
  • Tuesdays: Chess club
  • Wednesdays: Art Club
  • Thursdays: Anime Club
  • Fridays: German Club

Come and join the fun!

PTA BOOK FAIR
Our PTA sponsored Scholastic book fair will be held Tues, Sept. 26 - Thurs, Sept. 28, 2017 in the small faculty room next to the Little Theater.  Book Fair hours will be Tues. and Wed. 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thurs. 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., going through Parent Teacher Conference.  All money earned will buy more books for your student's classroom. Please come by and support your students and teachers.

TEACHER WISH LIST – BOOK FAIR
The Book Fair also offers an easy way to make a contribution directly to a teacher’s classroom. The PTA will have a Wish List of books that teachers think will add to student knowledge and enrich their classroom library. When you visit the Book Fair, please consider donating a book to a teacher’s classroom. Look for the Classroom Wish List display at the Fair to see what books have already been donated.

VISION SCREENING THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of our PTA volunteers that came and helped with 7th grade vision screenings last week.  We had 18 volunteers and because if that, we were told it was the quickest and smoothest vision screening yet!  SFJHS PTA appreciates your service.

HOPE SQUAD
We are really excited that so many students applied to be a part of HOPE Squad.  We had over 150 applicants that want to make a positive difference in our school.  It’s a great example of the LOBO WAY of Strengthening the Pack.
Because of the high interest we are going to try something new this year in order to include more people.  The HOPE Squad is a national program that requires a smaller group for more in depth training.  To meet their requirements, we will still have a smaller HOPE SQUAD, but we are also going to have a HOPE CLUB.  Members of both groups will get a shirt.  The HOPE Squad will complete all the trainings, the HOPE Club will complete one or two basic trainings and assist the HOPE Squad with service projects, HOPE week and other HOPE building activities throughout the year.  If you have any questions talk to any of the counselors.
