Shakespeare

Last May, Miss Holley held auditions for the Shakespeare Team. We had some rehearsals in the summer and then started up rehearsals in earnest when school started. All of our hard work paid off. On October 8th, the Spanish Fork Junior High Shakespeare Team traveled down to SUU for Shakespeare competitions. It was a very tough, but very fun three days. We had the chance to go to theatre and dance workshops. We watched other people compete and we competed ourselves against other junior highs and middle schools. All our hard work was rewarded. Our dance ensemble, “Conspiracy Nightmare” inspired by Julius Caesar and choreographed by Wendy Warr, won second place in our division. The acting ensemble, “Twelfth ‘Late’ Night” directed by Meg Grierson, also won second place. The acting trio, Richard III with Marty Sperry, Blake Alanis, and Kalie Hiatt, won third place. Michelle Jones, Jenna Grass, and Aubree Head won second place for their dance, “Naughty or Nice?” inspired by Kate from Taming of the Shrew. Alexa Baker received 4th place for her portrayal as Queen Catherine in King Henry VIII. Overall, the entire team received high enough points to win second place sweepstakes in the Stratford division. We had amazing experiences down there and we grew closer as a team. We would like to thank Miss Holley for being an amazing and dedicated director. She put up with every stupid thing we did and made our experience something we will never forget.
