What we've been doing: In Health 8 we've been learning about the different infectious and non-infectious diseases that commonly affect us. Students have been learning through discussions, experiences, research and projects and will end with peer reviewed  group presentations about a disease that runs in their family.

Mental Health Awareness Fair

Submitted by david.thacker on Thu, 09/29/2022 - 20:32

Ms. Ross's Health II students participated in a Mental Health Awareness Fair on Thursday, September 29th. Each student was able to pick their own mental health topic to present and become an expert in. The purpose of this project is to reduce risk factors and enhance factors that promote positive mental and emotional health. They were able to teach several students from Health I and share helpful resources with students, teachers, and administration. We are so proud of the fabulous students who participated!

Today we had a STEM field trip. Students had the opportunity to experience hands-on activities about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics! This field trip helped kick off our 30 days of STEM happening right now at SFJHS.

Captains Academy

Nebo School District has a fantastic tradition that they have been doing for man, many years.  That tradition is called Captain's Academy.  This is an opportunity for those that have been chosen as Captain's and leaders of their teams or groups to meet together to learn about being a leader and learn from some of the leaders that we have in our High schools and Jr. High Schools.

For the fall sports season the District invited members of the Jr. High boys and girls cross country teams, the girls tennis team and the Jr. high student council.

In biology we have been talking about collecting data using a random sample that reflects the population we are studying. Students are given 2 packages of M&Ms per group to sort by color and count. They compare the number of each color in the sample package and then make an inference of how many of each color would be in a 2 pound package(the population) Students then eat the random sample! No evidence left behind!!!!
