Book Challenge Winners Term 1.jpg | 95.31 KB |
It’s not easy to beat Mrs. Parker in the 7th Grade Language Arts Reading Challenge, but every year at least one student does. This year it was Isabel Francis. Isabel came in first place having read 26 books or 8,403 pages compared to Mrs. Parker’s 25 books or 7,474 pages.
Isabel has loved to read as long as she can remember, probably beginning in first grade reading the beloved Junie B. Jones books. She says, “I loved how the books could take me into a different world. My favorite genre is fantasy because I like all of the different things that could happen. Right now my all-time favorite book is the Percy Jackson series. The author, Rick Riordan, portrays the characters and the conflicts so well. I could read them anywhere.”
Here are Mrs. Parker’s Term 1 winners:
Isabel Francis 26 books/8,403 pages
David Riding 22 books/6,809 pages
Landon Nielsen 13 books/6,150 pages
David got into reading when he realized you can read about pretty much anything. He liked to pretend he was the character in the book. His favorite genre is fantasy and his favorite book series is the Ranger’s Apprentice series.
Landon became an avid reader because he was curious and wanted to learn. Soon he was reading all kinds of books. His favorite genre is fantasy, especially books like Fablehaven. His favorite series is the Harry Potter series. His favorite hobby is reading and he wants to be a writer when he grows up.
CONGRATULATIONS!
