Teacher of the Month - November 2010

Submitted by david.thacker on

Rillene Nielsen joined our faculty at SFJH three years ago.  She is a California native transplanted to Utah after a wildfire.  She is a mother of 6--5 boys and 1 girl.  And according to her children, she can be opinionated and bossy at times.  Here are just a few things we love and appreciate about her.

Shakespeare Competitions 2010

Submitted by david.thacker on

Shakespeare was an indescribable experience! We had an amazing time.

The ride up to Cedar City was three hours of non stop talking and laughing. When we arrived at the college campus we took a little tour then we were back on the bus and off to our hotel. We had stayed at a nice hotel called Holiday Inn Express.

When we all got settled in our rooms, we got back on the bus to go to Tuachan to see Crazy for You. It was a musical filled with songs and laughs every few minutes. It was a beautiful night and the sky was clear and filled with stars.

That's a big windmill!

Submitted by david.thacker on

On Thursday, October 21, Mr. Dayton and his Exploring Technology 1 students went on a tour of the wind farm at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. Rick McPherson of Edison Mission, the company that owns and operates the windmills, was our tour guide. He came to the Spanish Junior High in the morning and taught us the basics of wind power. Student volunteers got to try on the harnesses and equipment that they use to maintain the windmills.
